UPS intends to build a new healthcare distribution center in Roermond, Netherlands, to meet the growing demand. With an area of roughly 28,000 m2, the new facility will have about 41,000 places for pallets. The announcement was made only one month after the opening of a special UPS air freight facility dedicated to healthcare products at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. The Roermond facility, which is scheduled to be completed by January 2016, is an important part of UPS’s growth strategy in Europe. The proximity to the UPS air hub at Cologne Bonn Airport will allow the deliveries to reach their destinations anywhere in the world within one or two days. According to reports, once the facility is fully operational, it is expected to create as many as 200 new jobs. UPS’s global healthcare distribution network comprises more than 50 locations in Europe, the Asia-Pacific region, and North and South America. The logistics company UPS is based in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, and delivers its services to more than 220 countries and regions.
