Karl Storz introduces a new endoscope smartphone adapter to its current range of mobile documentation and measurement systems. The new adapter is suitable for quick inspection and documentation in non-destructive remote visual inspection.
In connection with rigid and flexible endoscopes, the adapter made by Karl Storz GmbH & Co. KG provides a quick way to take and save photos and videos using a smartphone, and to send them to third parties from the smartphone as needed. In this way, defects can be identified and documented faster, and, if required, support can be provided from any location, states Karl Storz, based in Tuttlingen, Germany.
The Smart Scope consists of a telescope with quick-release coupling and the case designed for the respective smartphone. The case acts as a holder for the smartphone and creates an ideal connection between the adapter and smartphone camera. The quick-release coupling can be used to connect any rigid or flexible endoscope with standard eyepiece to the Smart Scope. The telescope in the system optimizes the image, allowing it to be displayed in endoscopes and autoscopes that have a diameter of 3.8 mm to the fullest format possible. With larger telescopes, the image is usually limited by the smartphone camera. With smaller telescopes, only a part of the area of the smartphone camera is being used.
The Smart Scope allows to use all features that modern smartphones offer as standard. They include, for example, image and videos recording, image zoom, select focusing, and transmission of images and data using e-mail and data transfer. A standard tripod socket allows the adapter to be connected to any commercial tripod. No further adjustment for optimal optical connection is needed when the smartphone is connected to the Smart Scope thanks to the specific case for the smartphone.
